What a fabulous event CDP held for us at the Shankly Hotel, with guest speaker, Bruce Grobbelaar, to kick off their year of fundraising for the charity.

Bruce – Legend, entertaining, fun, irreverent, passionate

Liverpool Football Fans – captivated, enthralled, enthusiastic, passionate

Over 200 red blooded LFC fans joined us for the event, including a horde of Scandi supporters, (well the Norwegians did give us Scouse so we’ll be forever connected!), and even an Evertonian. You know who you are!

Hosting, was talented author, journalist and broadcaster Ragnhild Lund Ansnes. Ragnhild has written three books about Liverpool FC and is currently writing Bruce’s autobiography. Knowing just what Bruce is like really made for a fun Q & A session with the Legend. He couldn’t stay still on his seat for long, he was leaping about re-living stories of his glittering 14-year career with the Reds, much to the delight of the fans!

Bruce was charming, patient, full of fun, if an autograph tells you something about the man he signs his name and 96 is part of the signature. The 96 LFC fans are acknowledged and remembered by one of their heroes who was playing that day.

CDP pulled out all the stops, thank you Graham (!), the room looked beautiful and the raffle prizes were very special. There were plenty of opportunities to chat with Bruce, get an autograph and even a professional photo taken with him…. and a big silver cup……

A Fifpro study in 215 showed footie players suffer more from symptoms depression and anxiety than the general public. Hopefully events such as this not only raises funds for Imagine, helping us carry on our valuable work, but also highlights the fact that mental health issues can affect anyone and we need to spread the word and talk about it!

You’ll Never Walk Alone.

(BTW – CDP raised £4045.00 for us, a record for one event for them they tell us, so they’re thrilled, as are we……and Ragnhild is opening the Hotel Tia in a few weeks near the Anfield grounds. Tia stands for This is Anfield – genius! Be sure to visit!)
