De-Stress 5K along two well known River Banks

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week May 14-18 and the theme this year is STRESS!
To raise awareness and do something good for our mental health Imagine Independence staff, clients, friends and family have chosen to de-stress and unwind, experience the joys of ‘The River’ and raise some funds on the way, by walking 5K along two famous banks; The Mersey and The Thames!
We’ve called our sponsored walk The De-stress5K because we know walking is oh so good for you and helps fight stress and depression.
Those of us who took part in our recent Miles for Mental Health walk couldn’t agree more. We found that walking is relaxing and fun, a chance to slow down, and in a group, it’s a great social activity. You’ll find yourself talking to one person, walking on your own for a bit, then talking to someone else, things just flow. You can choose to engage or just be in the moment enjoying your surroundings. S-o-o-o relaxing………
So, why a sponsored walk? Imagine Independence works closely with over 2,000 people a year and we provide much needed mental health and learning disability services to local communities.
We’re helping people to recovery by providing decent housing, supporting them to independence by becoming part of the community, having friends, neighbours and a social network, enjoying meaningful activities, finding a job, a future with good health and a respected place in society.
Sadly we can’t always do this on our own and that’s why we’re asking people to help us to help make a real difference to someone’s life by providing this support.
All money raised by sponsoring someone on the walk will help us to continue our good work.
