Bramble Court Garden Fete

A glorious sunny day greeted us on September 1st for our Garden Fete for the residents of our Bramble Court care service Brampton

It turned out to be a real family affair with residents and their families joining in the fun and also members of the local community dropping by too.

Under the marquee we set up in the grounds people enjoyed delicious cream tea and sandwiches provided by the Brampton Community Centre café and listened to our very own “DJ Phil” Salmon play favourite pop classics.

There was an art and crafts area for the creative, fun fairground games that everyone ‘had a go’ at to win prizes, face painting and football for the grandchildren and a quiz for the residents.

One of the highlights of the day was the Great Brampton Bake Off. There was a tempting array of cakes entered in the competition and our guest judge Antony Dowell had a tough decision! After tasting a slice from each cake (!) he pronounced our very own Lynn Eaton, manager of our care service, as the Star Baker. She’d entered a stunning chocolate cake and the first prize was well deserved.

Our Deputy CEO Elaine Mather thanked our Care Service staff for all their hard work in the last year and presented them with a gorgeous fruit basket, Imagine mascots Mr Sunflower and The Flower Pot Man made a special appearance to much laughter and photo taking and then we announced the raffle prize winners.

Local businesses had kindly donated some wonderful prizes including afternoon tea for 2 at Skitby House, a £25 voucher at Front Room Jewellery Work Shop, a meal for 2 and two tickets for a theatre production at The Old Fire Station. The prizes were really appreciated by the winners and we raised £90, which the residents decided that would go towards a Christmas party that they could all enjoy.

It was a happy community-feel day with much fun and laughter and the residents and staff really enjoyed it and are hoping for a repeat next year!
