Befriending and Peer Support Service
This Liverpool based service helps people aged 18-65 to develop a network of support to build confidence and independence. The service operates on Mondays to Fridays between 9am-6pm and is eligible for those accessing primary or secondary mental health services
How can we help?
We know that having a mental health issue can sometimes leave people feeling isolated and alone. Our experienced Befriending and Peer Support team encourage people to re-engage with their communities and to get out and about enjoying activities, which in turn leads to a healthier and fuller lifestyle. We also help people develop their own user-led groups and sessions and have a variety of activities on offer around Liverpool at a number of locations.
- Volunteer Befriender – become a Befriender with us! We ask our volunteers to commit at least 2-3 hours per week to support someone, one to one to help them get out and about and engage with community. We have an established matching process and our Befriending volunteers are key to our service as they enable our clients to develop a positive and rewarding relationship with people they are choosing to spend time with rather than being paid to do so. Training and support provided.
- Befriending – we match people with a Befriender who has similar interests and who will offer one to one support to access activities in the community.
- Peer Support Sessions – An ideal opportunity to meet new people in a friendly and relaxed environment. People are warmly welcomed at a variety of user-led groups located in and around the city, we also organise social events in the community.
- Women’s Group – a woman only service located at our Salisbury Road site. A safe place for women to attend in a welcoming environment. The group hosts a Friday drop-in and activities on offer include Yoga and healthy eating.
