The Art of Seeing

Yet another coup for our Liverpool Peer Support & Befriending Service – CONGRATULATIONS are in order for members of their super talented Photography Group!

Two (yes 2!) pieces of their work have been chosen by Liverpool Mental Health Consortium to be included in the up-coming Art Exhibition, ‘Falling Apart’.

The wonderful Image above was taken by Martin Bates, Peer Programme Co-Ordinator, who runs the photography group.

Here’s Martin’s poetic description of this strong image he’s aptly titled, ‘The Hero’ :- ‘An old rusting gate post with its long-forgotten string is set as a hero character under stormy clouds, revealing the beauty in decay.’

Wow! Noticing things like this is an art in itself, a reminder to slow down, look around and appreciate our surroundings.

This beautiful second image is a group effort from the photographers and is titled ‘Fossil in the Making’……..’ ‘Colours appear and shapes are enhanced by the movement towards decay.’

Come and view these images in person and the work of the other photographers at the exhibition launch – taking place on Thursday 11th October at The Brink, 21 Parr St, Liverpool L1 4JN from 4pm – 5:30pm.

The exhibition is part of the very exciting goings on at the Liverpool Mental Health Festival which runs from October 10th (World Mental Health Day) to October 14th.

By the way –  if you’d like to learn how to take super photos like this and join a friendly supportive group give Martin a call on 0151 291 6866.
