In the beginning
1972 finds us working together under the name of Liverpool Association for Mental Health – and we had concerns – people with mental health issues who were in Psychiatric Hospitals/Asylums were being kept there for years and years without hope of getting out.
We could see that many of these people could live productive and full lives in the community with proper support; we decided to do something about it and established a range of services supported by volunteers. These included two group homes and a club house for patients we were helping to leave long stay hospitals.
