Hours: Flexible Hours
Job Reference: London Volunteer
Closing Date: On-going
Job Type: Volunteering Role
We are looking for volunteers with lived experience or those who have an interest in working with clients who have mental health needs. It is a good way to gain experience, qualifications and a way to give something back and participate in your community.
Mentors – The Mentoring service works one to one with individuals to develop and sustain their wellbeing, self esteem, confidence and independence. We provide clients with the tools that they need. Volunteer mentors, including some peer mentors share their own journey to inspire hope. We work with clients from all backgrounds who need support. We recognise that individuals are at different stages on their path of recovery.
Befrienders – befriending individuals with similar interests to develop confidence, socialise and access community activities. The Befriending service works with the individual to encourage participation in activities within the community. Our client is placed with a volunteer befriender who supports them to reduce social isolation and to increase access to social activities and services they are interested in pursuing.
There is an ongoing training programme which all volunteers need to complete and due to the time required a formal commitment of a minimum of 2 hours a week is required. We also request that our volunteers commit to a minimum of 6 months.
Please note that you must be aged 18 or over to volunteer.
